About
Each brief comes from a single daily pass over roughly 112 curated RSS sources — wire services, national dailies, regional press in the US, California, Japan and the Middle East, plus think tanks and a set of slower long-form outlets.
The house rules, such as they are:
- Index against the last fifty years. Name the closest post-1975 analog and do the comparative work — where it matches, where it breaks, and what the earlier episode's second-order effects turned out to be. If no clean analog exists, say so.
- Go past the front page. The lead story is usually the least interesting thing in the scan.
- Grade the previous calls. Briefs revisit their own earlier claims and say plainly when they were wrong.
These are readings of the news, not reporting. Nothing here is a primary source; where a claim matters, the underlying outlet is named so it can be checked.
